The Navy Years

The Navy was good for me and good to me. I matured to become a more responsible person and learned how to be a leader and a manager. I received an excellent education and became highly trained in a very technical field. It also gave me an opportunity to travel to places I would never have gone on my own. It also gave me a chance to see how other people live and how to interact with them. There were several times that I felt I should change careers but I persevered and became successful.

During my time in the Navy, I had opportunities to travel to many foreign countries. In almost every instance, I was welcomed by the people and found them to be, for the most part, warm and friendly.

Table of Contents:

As you can see, every Naval Security Group Activity I served at no longer exists. NMPC was re-named back to Bureau of Personnel (BUPERS) and relocated to Millington, Tennesse. Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, no longer trains any CTM personnel. My rating (Cryptologic Technician Maintenance) is being disestablished and will no longer exist by 2010. A new rating has been formed and some of the current CTMs will become CTN (for Network). NOTE: It has been brought to my attention that the US Navy re-examined the CTM rating and decided to continue the rating.

Additionally, the entire Naval Security Group will be removed from the Navy. In 2005/06, a very important aspect of the Cold War will be gone. I can only hope that the replacement organization will protect our freedom like the NSG has done since 1947.
