Techniques Freezer paper templates for deer. Machine pieced. Machine quilting background and border. Handquilting around trees and deer.
Purpose Present for Bob. Named for the hills near Banchory where Bob hunted roe and red deer.
Errata Bob: "When we were stationed in Scotland, I had the opportunity to join a hunting syndicate which has several thousands acres of leased land for hunting. The first time I visited, I fell in love with the area. Not only was it somewhat mountainous, it was full of wildlife including grouse, pheasant, ducks, geese, fox, falcons, roe deer and red deer. We were expected to cull the deer population to protect the small trees (roe deer eat a surprising amount of young trees and this just happened to be a 'tree' farm.). Besides my family and our trips visiting the various castles and sites in the UK, my fondest memories of Britain are hunting near Banchory and my favorite spot was on Spyhill. This quilt became my instant favorite and I still love to touch it every night before going to sleep."
